Susan's Christmas Message

Picture
In this troubled and uncertain world – God has intervened.
Small and gentle was his coming…
What a thing to conceive – that God himself would draw near à to companion us, to save us, and to show us how to fully live…

On Christmas we celebrate the mystery of humanity and divinity becoming one.  Early church teachers stressed that the Incarnation should not be viewed so much as “condescension,” or as a decent of God to people, but rather as the “lifting up” of humanity into the divine life…
The meaning of Christmas is almost too much to wrap our heads around.  The coming of God as a human baby; invites us to both joy and humility – as we bow the knee of our hearts to receive the love God has for us.

This Christmas our Lord invites us to contemplate his first coming as a child.  What does it mean that the Creator of the entire Universe would become so vulnerable and entrust himself to us – totally?
Emmanuel – Jesus - is the living icon of a God, who so desires to be “With Us…” that he deigns to join us in our every-day and all-ways life.

To my family at St Christopher’s, have a Merry and Blessed Christmas!
Susan…

Below is a link to an article that offers practical ways for families go deeper in their faith this Christmas.  I appreciate that it offers a bridge to our Judeo-Christian roots!
